Search Grant County Dockets

Start your Grant County docket search by picking the right court level, because each one keeps its records in a different system. Superior Court cases live in Odyssey. District Court and most municipal matters run through Washington Courts Case Records Search or Find My Court Date instead. With a name or case number, you can pull up the case header, the parties, events, and any hearings open to the public. Think of the docket as an index. It is not the full clerk file, so if a result or document is missing, try a different court filter or contact the local clerk or District Court staff for help.

Grant County Docket Search Fields in Odyssey

Odyssey gives you far more than one blank text box. Choosing the right field keeps unrelated names and court locations from tangling together in your results.

FieldUse
Record number or party nameMain case or name query
Court Location by CountySelect Grant County
Search TypeParty, business, attorney, case, cross-reference, judicial officer, or nickname

One field is off limits in Washington Odyssey: Citation Number. Traffic and limited-jurisdiction searches should go through the state route or District Court instead of forcing a citation into the Superior Court portal.

Grant County Search Results Stop at 200

Odyssey shows only the first 200 results. That cap is a prompt, not a verdict. It tells you the query needs more detail. Narrow things down with Grant County as the location, a date range, a case category, a fuller name, or a more exact case number.

Too many results: Narrow the same query before deciding the desired case is missing.

Each row shows a case number, file date, type, location, and party name. Click the case number itself. Do not rely on the list row. The opened docket record splits into case information, parties, disposition events, events, and hearings, and each section answers a different question.

Grant County Case Search Results Explained

Think of a public search result as a structured summary of what the clerk entered. It is not the full case file. Document images may be missing.

Case informationNumber, court location, type, filing date, judicial officer, status, and caption.
PartiesPublicly available party names, roles, business names, and attorneys of record.
Disposition eventsRecorded outcomes such as dismissal, judgment, conviction, or deferred result when public.
EventsChronological filings, appearances, motions, orders, and later actions.
HearingsDate, time, courtroom, judicial officer, and event type where displayed.

Older settings can sit beside resets. Statuses lag. Read the later events before trusting an early entry as current, and request the filed record whenever exact wording matters.

Grant County Superior Versus District Search

Two offices split the record-keeping. The Grant County Clerk holds Superior Court records, covering felony, major civil, domestic, probate, guardianship, juvenile, and civil-commitment matters. Grant County District Court staff keep the limited-jurisdiction side: traffic, infractions, misdemeanors, gross misdemeanors, preliminary felony hearings, civil claims within its limits, and small claims.

Most Grant municipal listings route into District Court, though George Municipal Court is listed separately. For contacts, forms, and technology notices, the District Court page is the official local source.

Two Ways to Search: Grant County and State

Odyssey is the tight Grant Superior route. The state search is a broad index across several court levels. The state itself warns that clerk-entered information refreshes about every 24 hours. It can omit dockets, judgments, or document links. For complete and current information, check Odyssey, re:SearchWA, JIS-Link, or the court of record as appropriate. JIS-Link is different. It is a paid AOC subscription at $0.145 per transaction, showing docket and case data but no case documents. It is not the ordinary free public route. Grant District Court’s 2026 transition from JIS to Enterprise Justice also means limited-jurisdiction coverage should be confirmed with the court rather than assumed from a portal name.

When Grant County Docket Search Finds Nothing

A blank result is usually a fixable search problem. Try exact “Last, First.” Try a supported wildcard, the complete number, another court level, or a different filing-date range. A miss can also reflect the wrong venue. It can also reflect the state index’s lag, an older file, a restricted case, or a document that is not available anonymously. For a Superior case-number search, the County Clerk’s Search Records form may be mailed or hand-delivered. It cannot be emailed. It asks for party names, approximate filing year, case type, and contact details. The service costs a $15 minimum per search per half hour and carries a ten-business-day processing period. Mail it to P.O. Box 37, Ephrata, WA 98823, or deliver it to Room 218. District Court records work differently. Call 509-754-2016 or use its linked Request for Information form.

Which Grant County Cases Stay Restricted

Washington leans toward openness. GR 31 presumes access to court records. Access stays subject to privacy law, court rules, statutes, orders, and practical burdens. GR 22 gives special treatment to family-law, protection-order, guardianship, and therapeutic-court files. Juvenile sealing follows RCW chapter 13.50. A public name search never opens sealed material or protected identifiers.

Anonymous Odyssey users cannot see restricted cases at all. Documents depend on authorization too. A public index may show an adult case header while hiding most filed papers. District and municipal police reports, witness statements, presentence reports, and certain related material are not public unless they enter the court record in a manner the rules recognize.

The Grant County 24-Hour Search Lag

New filings reach the statewide index late. A case or a changed hearing can sit in the local file for roughly 24 hours after clerks enter the data before it shows in the state index. The clock runs from clerk entry, not from when a party submits a document. For urgent hearing dates, use the Grant County court schedule channels and call the court.

The County Clerk answers at 509-754-2015 for Superior records. District Court is 509-754-2016. A search result identifies a case, nothing more. The originating custodian supplies the official record and certified copies.

Reading Grant County Odyssey Case Sections

Each case number opens into several sections. Case Information names the court, file date, case type, status, caption, and judicial officer. Party information assigns roles like petitioner, respondent, plaintiff, defendant, business, agency, or attorney. Events carries the chronology of filings, service, appearances, motions, orders, judgments, and later activity. Disposition Events records outcomes. Hearings lists calendar events.

Keep these fields separate in a Grant County search. A hearing label is not a disposition. A party row does not prove every filing is public. An event summary cannot replace the document itself. When you need exact order language, certification, or a complete file, identify the item in the portal and send a copy request to the custodian. That way the index serves discovery, while official confirmation stays with the Grant County Clerk or District Court.

Filtering a Grant County Search by Venue

Grant County's geography makes location filters matter. Superior Court sits in Ephrata. District Court serves the county from Ephrata. It also has a Moses Lake branch. Municipal listings for Ephrata, Mattawa, Moses Lake, Quincy, Royal City, Soap Lake, Warden, and several other cities route the public to Grant County District Court. George Municipal Court lists separately at 102 Richmond Avenue.

A broad name search blends cases from different Washington counties and court levels. Add Grant County first. Then pick Superior, District, municipal, or appellate as the record requires. A District preliminary felony record may precede a Superior felony case. Related stages can appear apart rather than as one continuous result. Appeals from Grant County Superior Court go to the Washington Court of Appeals, Division III. Follow the court path the case shows, not merely a party's home city.
